Easter 2012

Bach features on alternate years in the Yorke Trust’s calendar. This year the Trust performs in the beautiful Priory at Binham for the first time. www.binhampriory.org. There is also a Sunday afternoon performance in St Mary's Parish Church, South Creake www.southcreake.org.

This Easter Adam Johnson conducts, having visited The Trust as vocal coach and pianist many times. Founder and director of The Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra, he heads one of the country's newest and most adventurous projects for young professionals. www.nlso.org.
Alexander Crowe regularly acts as Easter course director. Formerly Head of Vocal & Opera Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, he now also teaches in London.
For the Binham performance on Saturday 21 April the Trust's resident chef Robert McNaughtan prepares boxes of delicious canapés that have proved so popular at previous events (£5 - click here to order).
Before the afternoon performance on Sunday 22 April at South Creake, Robert is cooking a roast Sunday lunch at the Old Chapel - Vegetable soup, Roast chicken and stuffing, Apple pie; Teas and coffee. (£16 - click here to order).
For the first time we take our Easter concert to London for a special performance at the Musicians' Church St. Sepulchre-without-Newgate in London on Monday 23 April as part of a new link with The Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra.

Scenes of Enchantment, Comedy and Romance

Jennifer Hamilton directs three staged programmes of operatic excerpts inspired by Midsummer Magic. Some of Europe's most promising young singers perform two evening shows, with a Sunday matinee comprising the pick of the best. A number of other performances take place in private venues and there are appearances in St Nicholas Church, Wells-next-the-Sea on Sunday 15 July and at Wells Harbour Day on Sunday 22 July. Pied Piper! 2012
The 2012 series of Pied Piper! junior arts workshop weekends takes place in South Creake on 12-13 May, 26-27 May, 9-10 June and 16-17 June. Work focuses on the general topic of magic, with particular reference to Shakespeare. There will be emphasis on singing, with a view to forming the nucleus of a children's chorus for performances of Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream in 2013. Tutors include Neil McErlean, Mary Somerville and Joan Price.
The Reel Fling
The Creake Centre hosts regular gatherings of The Reel Fling, an informal group of enthusiastic Scottish reelers, with an optional light supper beforehand. For information about dates please contact Lois Carrick loiscarrick21@hotmail.co.uk. No previous experience is necessary as all dances are explained and practiced slowly beforehand. It is all great fun and good for both the mind and the figure!
