Music and Dining Club
The Music and Dining Club promotes a series of gastro-musical evenings once a month on Saturday evenings throughout the year. Occasional programmes are repeated as Sunday lunch events. The aim is to raise funds for the Trust’s ongoing artistic programmes.
Membership of the Music and Dining Club entitles subscribers to book for a series of private concerts, each followed by a meal at The Creake Centre, prepared by Robert McNaughtan, the Trust’s resident chef. Each event begins with an aperitif and canapés. Concerts last about an hour and feature both established artists and promising young musicians.
Menus are devised to reflect and complement the music, all products being sourced locally wherever possible. Wines are chosen to go with the meals and are available for purchase at a reasonable cost. The Trust’s premises are fully licensed. B&B can be arranged locally if required.
Subscriptions (£20 per person, £35 per couple) attract Gift Aid and each event (£35 per person, £45 for guests) offers bargain value.
The first series of Music & Dining Club events began with the outstanding young cellist Jamie Walton and a programme of Franco-Belgian music, with a menu to match. To bring the series to a close, an intriguing Latin American evening with OgdenTANNER, a young guitar and percussion duo, provided food for musical thought and a menu embracing a special Gazpacho, pot-roast fillet of beef and a newly created Nougat Parfait. Fine wines from Argentina and Chile proved perfect partners.
The most recent series has featured a Jewish evening with a traditional ensemble; a programme of Japanese music; an Indian weekend (cello, tabla and poetry) that included twelve specially prepared family dishes rarely found in restaurants; and Sing for your Supper, a light-hearted event with the Kinder Children’s Choir of the High Peaks.
